MEET OUR TEAM
Alison James
I am from a close-nit family and I am a mother of two grown up children. I initially wanted a football team of children of my own so childminding was the next best thing! After several years working for the American Broadcasting Corporation, I found my way back to my passion of doing something with children. I worked for over 6 years in an Academy as a Cover Supervisor for students in age 11-18. In addition to this I delivered mentoring sessions for children in these year groups as well as coaching netball skills to children and adults in and outside of the Academy. Working with the Early Years brings a smile to my face every morning.
Michelle James
I am passionate about creating a nurturing, safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where children can thrive. My approach is rooted in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines, focusing on the seven key areas of development to help every child reach their full potential before starting school.
I come from a creative background and family and believe children learn best through play, exploration, and creativity. By tailoring learning opportunities to each child’s interests and unique characteristics, I aim to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning through discovery.
As a professional working in the industry for 2 and a half years, I am committed to working in partnership with families. I believe open and honest communication ensures both children and parents/guardians feel respected and valued as we work together to support their child’s journey.
My ultimate goal is to make a meaningful difference in children’s lives, helping them develop confidence, independence, and a strong foundation for their early education.
Andrea Barnard
I have always wanted to work with children from as far back as I can remember so this was the career path I chose since leaving school. I have 5 years’ experience working in nursery settings including Montessori, Local Authority and Private Settings before joining the family business in 2015. I am affectionally known to all the children as “Anj-Anj”, a name given to me by a child I worked with in one of my previous settings. The fact that parents often say the children talk about going to see “Anj-Anj” just confirms that I’m in the best job ever!

A Second Family!
“My daughter started at A&M childcare when she was just over a year old, having been with me and not many other adults due to the pandemic. I needn’t have worried because she has loved her time there.
Communication is excellent. Photos and updates are sent throughout the day and any observations/concerns are promptly discussed. Alison, Marcia and Andrea care so much for the children they look after and it has definitely been a second home for my daughter. She has loved playing with her friends in a warm, enriching and purposeful environment designed to support learning and development.”
